Instructions - How to make towel topper in-the-hoop
We have a surprise! New and simpler way to make towel toppers below!
In-the-hoop Towel topper - free instructions
Please note! this project is made using 2 sides of the embroidery hoop. Sometimes you should to take out the hoop, but please, do not unhoop your project! The backing is taped behind the hoop! Any kind of embroidery machine allows do that.
Below is image of approximate Towel topper design, it may vary depending of the style, the idea is the same.
HOW TO MAKE
STEP BY STEP
Hoop tear away stabilizer, preferred in 2 layers together
You need a foam, or other wadding, i used felt fabric. Lay wadding (felt) then the main fabric over it.
Attach hoop to machine and make outline seam, NUMBER 1 also known as the fabric tack down seam.
Then make appliqué detail - circle for this towel. Another towel toppers from my shop do not have this circle applique.
Please note, for faster making i removed appliqué position seam. There is only one seam of an appliqué. Just lay fabric inside the hoop and make the appliqué tack down seams. (if you wish an applique position, just make the seam without fabric, then repeat this seam to fix the fabric)
It is helpful before stitching to use the tape or pins to make sure the layers stay nice and flat while stitching.
Then optional, decoration, complete NUMBER 3. At this moment it is possible to monogram your towel.
You need to have at least simply software to do it.
Or there is another way, little difficult, but it is one if you do not have software:
1. Load the needed towel topper design,
2. then load letter by letter to compose needed name using MERGE function on your embroidery machine
You should use Font, which is available for sale or installed to your machine, in this listing it is not included. But, if you have problems, contact me and i will try to help you
3. embroider until the fabric tack down will be complete and stop machine, skip other steps until begin your custom name embroidery steps.
4. embroider name and stop machine
5. return to the fabric tack down step and continue to make the towel topper
After monogram or additional design is complete, trim the circle fabric ONLY!
All the in-the-hoop project is done in one hooping.
Turn around the hoop
Then lay appliqué fabric right inside the shape behind the hoop - lining.
It is helpful to use the tape or PINS to make sure the lining stays nice and flat while stitching.
The applique fabric and the lining tack down seam will be next NUMBER 6
Stop machine, do not unhoop, trim the fabric around the shapes in front of hoop and lining
Attach hoop back to machine and the nice satin stitch outline will be next. NUMBER 7

When the design has finished, remove the tape, unhoop, and gently tear away the excess stabilizer.
Now time attach this patch to the towel.
Find the center of the towel by folding it in half, pin the center.
Match the the reverse side of towel and patch right side centres, pin it
Stitch on top of the patch ribbon following ribbon satin edge.
You are done!
